The Juntendo Simulation Education Research Center (JSERC) is a specialized research facility for nursing, affiliated with the Graduate School of Health Care and Nursing at Juntendo University. Established in April 2022 at the Urayasu Campus, JSERC serves as a hub for advancing simulation-based education and developing innovative teaching methodologies, with the goal of promoting best practices in nursing and healthcare.
The center features a 450㎡ training space, repurposed from a gymnasium, with 28 modular booths that can be reconfigured to simulate various medical settings, including intensive care units, perinatal centers, outpatient clinics, and nurse stations. To enhance the realism of training, we have introduced high-fidelity simulators and installed locally operated IBM electronic medical record (EMR) systems, identical to those used in our affiliated hospital. These facilities provide students and healthcare professionals with an immersive, hands-on learning environment, allowing them to refine their clinical judgment and decision-making skills in realistic scenarios.
Through progressive and practice-oriented education and research, JSERC is committed to nurturing compassionate and competent healthcare professionals who are equipped not only with technical expertise but also with the ethical awareness and critical thinking skills necessary to advance nursing practice and contribute to the well-being of the community.
Research
JSERC conducts research on optimizing simulation-based learning, developing innovative educational materials utilizing digital tools, including generative AI, and exploring AI and mobile applications to support self-management in healthcare. Additionally, we collaborate with international universities on joint research projects to advance these fields.
