Founding History
In 2011, Juntendo University was commissioned by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) to conduct the “Team Nippon Multi-Support Project (Research and Study on Strategies to Support the Strategic Strengthening of Female Athletes)”, and in 2013, Juntendo University published the “Report on Strategies to Support the Strategic Strengthening of Female Athletes”.
In August 2014, Juntendo University received a grant from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) to support the formation of a strategic research infrastructure for private universities, the “Japanese Center for Research on Women in Sport (JCRWS)” was established, and support measures for female athletes from the perspective of “research”.
About the JCRWS Logo
The curve running down the center was inspired by the basal body temperature of a female athlete. This curve represents the face of a woman who is always aiming higher and higher as an athlete, as well as the moment of joy of a female athlete after her best performance.The abbreviation “JCRWS” is pronounced as “J-krooz”.
