Greeting from the Executive Director

Executive Director, Japanese Center for Research on Women in Sport
Professor of Sport Management, the Graduate School of Health and Sports Science at Juntendo University
The Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games have been postponed for one year. The both Games under the declaration of a state of emergency were held in a situation that no one could have imagined, with most of the events were held without spectators. The Japanese Center for Research on Women in Sport (JCRWS) started its activities in April 2019 with a new research system. The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology(MEXT) ‘s private university strategic foundation formation support project “Building a Research Infrastructure for Female Athletes Conditioning Management”, which was carried out for five years from 2014, was able to achieve results at a faster pace than expected. Once again, we would like to thank all the people involved for supporting the Japanese Center for Research on Women in Sport (JCRWS) on a regular basis. Moreover, I would like to confirm the three directions of JCRWS. First, further development of research on “conditioning of female athletes”. Second, conduct “research on the development of female leaders and promotion of sports participation”. The third is to conduct “research that contributes to improving health and performance” for all women and girls. Even though many conferences in various fields in Japan and abroad were held online, we were able to present many research results, write many papers, and submit them to various journals, which led to their acceptance. By the way, I think that the Japanese sports field, where the Tokyo 2020 Games ended, will reach a major turning point. At that major turning point, with a firm eye on the above three directions, we will continue to produce the results of our research together with our staff and move forward. Thank you very much for your continued support and cooperation.
