At the 29th Congress of Women’s Sports Medicine Society held on Saturday, December 12, 2015 Associate Professor of Faculty of Health and Sports Science at Juntendo University, Natsue Koikawa (Deputy Executive Director of Japanese Center for Research on Women in Sport) gave a presentation on “Energy shortage of female athletes in their growth period can be analyzed by weight gain curve software and applications” and was awarded the Excellent Presentation Award!
Juntendo University and Nishibeppu National Hospital Sports Medicine Center developed together a health support software for female athletes called “Surari-chan, Height!” as a multi-support project for female athletes by MEXT. The development of this software was highly evaluated from the viewpoint such as being able to check the growth and development of female athletes in their growing period and predict the growth spurt period, and from the point that it pursued a mechanism in which data accumulated for software development was reflected by weight gain curves.
From now on, efforts will be made to raise awareness and promote “Surari-chan, Height!” and aim for further research on the topic.
