Awarded [the 26th Chichibunomiya Memorial Sports Medicine and Science, and Encouragement Award] On March 18, the award ceremony for [the 26th Chichibunomiya Memorial Sports Medicine and Science, and Encouragement Award] was held at the Nippon Seinenkan in the presence of H.I.H. Princess Takamado.
We would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere and profound gratitude for receiving such a prestigious award on this milestone year, which marks the 10th anniversary of our center’s establishment in 2014, for the firmness of our founding mission, and for the support we have received from so many people along the way.

While the perspective on scientific support for female athletes is still immature in Japan, the award recognizes our achievements that have provided knowledge at workshops and seminars based on our research results, and have had a positive impact not only on improving athletic performance, but also on providing insight into the state of women and sport, and on gender equality.
*This is the first time a university organization or institution has received this award.

The following are the reasons for the award.
・Produced a “Report on Strategic Support Measures for Strengthening Female Athletes (2013),” and based on this research, we established the Japanese Center for Research on Women in Sport at Juntendo University (2014), the first research and support center for women in sport in Japan.
・Constantly taking on new challenges and conducting numerous studies, such as conditioning female athletes, fostering female leaders, and proposing measures to promote sports participation, and presenting the results.
・Juntendo University School of Medicine Juntendo Hospital and Urayasu Hospital opened the first Women’s Sports Medicine Clinic in Japan at 2 places to provide comprehensive medical support to female athletes to help them stay healthy and maintain high performance over the long term (2014).
・Have been engaged in research and practice of medicine and sports for many years, steadily achieving results, developing various tools such as the “Female Athlete Diary” to help condition management, and actively conducting educational activities such as holding the “Women Leaders Academy” and training for female athletes.

The Japanese Center for Research on Women in Sport will continue to move forward tirelessly to fulfill its mission and achieve further development.
