Juntendo University has signed an inter-university partnership agreement with Fuji University. The signing ceremony and press conference were held on Wednesday, August 27, at Fuji University in Hanamaki City, Iwate Prefecture.

Research through an Inter-University
Partnership Agreement

Fuji University, known for its strong club activities that have produced Olympians and professional athletes, plans to establish the Faculty of Health and Sports Science in fiscal year 2027, which will serve as a hub for talent development and research in sport across the Tohoku region.
Through this inter-university partnership agreement, the two universities will cooperate in the field of health and sports science — including the exchange of personnel and the shared use of facilities — to promote talent development and research that leverages both institutions’ expertise and regional strengths.

Focusing on Coaching and Supporting
Local Female Athletes

In preparation for the establishment of a new faculty, Fuji University will launch the “Japanese Center for Research on Women in Sport” in April 2026.Etsuko Ogasawara, Executive Director, will serve as the Center’s Executive Director, dedicating her efforts to nurturing female athletes and leaders in the Tohoku region.
Etsuko Ogasawara, Executive Director, expressed her aspirations, saying: “I hope to foster the next generation of talent and see them take flight on the global stage. Building on our existing connections, we will continue striving to create a society where everyone can engage in sports with confidence and peace of mind”.
