Awarded the “Outstanding Abstract Award” at the “AASM2019 Conference”!

At the Asian Association for Sport Management Conference 2019 (The 15th AASM Conference) held on August 7th through 9th, Ms. Akane Mikura, a research assistant at the Japanese Center for Research on Women in Sport, received the “Outstanding Abstract Award” for the outstanding research presentation that was co-authored by the director at the Center, Dr. Etsuko Ogasawara, which the title was “The Career Process of Female Basketball Players to Advance Their Interest in Coaching”. At the conference, 10 Outstanding Abstract Awards were elected from among the 56 Oral presentations and 20 Poster presentations. 3 of the 10 elected titles were from Japan.
 
Ms. Mikura, who received the award said, “It was an unexpected award, however, it encouraged me to continue to do my best in research that would contribute to gender equality in coaching. I would also like to appreciate all the female basketball players, female coaches, and WJBL secretariat for their cooperation.”

Japanese Center for Research on Women in Sport will continue to support and promote research and activities that are useful in the sports field to young researchers such as Ms. Mikura who also served as an executive committee member of the AASM 2019 conference.
